New! Online - Truthout.org is seeking reporting interns to focus on daily political news. Interns will scour the wires and monitor the 24-hour cable programs, turning around quick summaries of the events shaping the news. Interns will also be asked to work on features and assist with reporting on larger news stories. This internship provides a hands-on opportunity to learn the ropes of a fast-paced online newsroom. Applicants should be interested in politics, well versed in news-reporting basics and ideally come from a progressive vantage point. This is a telecommute position, with a stipend of $500 per month. Ideally, interns are based in Washington, DC, but exceptions may be made. Interns are expected to work 20-25 hours per week, and internships can last from three to six months. The editorial intern will read, research, edit and write. New! Broadcast - PBS  is offering a Desk Assistant (DA) position as part of a six-month entry-level program aimed at providing practical experience in a broadcast news setting. The DA's are exposed to all aspects involved in producing a nightly television news program. This position is divided into rotations among the different units that compose the NewsHour: research, newsroom, reporting, and production. The DA’s work in three of the positions for two months at a time.
