Fall 2010 Advisement Period Closed – The advisement period for Fall 2010 is now over and Journalism Advisers will not hold office hours during finals week. Advisers will be unable for advisement until classes begin in August.
Graduation Ceremony – Commencement will take place on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at 8 a.m. on Oviatt Library Lawn. Parking on campus will be free.
Arrival time and assembly area: Graduates should arrive robed and ready to line-up for the processional no later than 60 minutes before the ceremony is to begin in order to check-in. Official Name Card - Students must retain the official name card until collected by the name reader during the ceremony. Assembly Area – Students will need to line-up on the south end of the Sierra Quad. Look for the directional signs to the graduate check-in. Scheduled Furloughs – The Journalism Department office will be closed on Friday, May 21; Friday, May 28; Tuesday, June 1; and Friday, June 18 due to state mandated Furlough days.
SPJ Scholarships - This is a reminder that the Society of Professional Journalists/LA chapter scholarships are due this Friday, May 7. This is a great opportunity for funding, as well as a great resume booster. The financial awards range up to $1,000 for each of the four scholarships.
