New! Magazine - University Link Magazine is offering an internship program for magazine editors for the fall. ULM is a print monthly magazine located in North Hollywood. ULM is an edgy, fun, socially conscious 100-page campus glossy written by college students for college students. During the internship you'll learn how to shape the content of a monthly magazine, copy, edit and fact check articles, write an editor’s letter to introduce the issue, write captions for the cover and work with freelance writers. Applicants must be currently enrolled in college, able to receive credit for the internship, have their own computers and, where applicable, cameras and must be able to submit articles and photographs via email. Communications - The Institutional Communications Office is offering an internship to currently enrolled students enrolled at least half-time at an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications or related discipline. The intern will be reporting to the Sectional Manager and Team Leader. The intern will be provided with hands-on work experience in the application of conceptual and theoretic curricculum within Communications. Responsibilities include, researching and writing feature articles, news stories, short items and other text materials for internal and external communication vehicles including Jet Propulsion Laboratory's Daily Planet internal website and other projects. The candidate must posses a minimum 3.0 GPA, must be able to work at least eight hours per week with a maximum of 30 hours per week while in school. The candidate must also have strong journalistic skills, as evidenced in a portfolio of published stories. Computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, etc.) required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and organize activities productively with minimal guidance. Ability to work with others in fast-paced, high-pressure environment where accuracy, clear communications, teamwork and courtesy are of paramount importance. Desired Skills: Previous work experience and/or academic background in journalistic writing about science topics. May work 20-30 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during mid-year and summer breaks.
