SPRING 2011 ADVISEMENT – Spring 2011 starts Monday, September 20. If you plan on attending CSUN during the spring semester, then you must see an adviser. Advisement is required in order to register for classes. See the list of advisers on the table outside the Journalism Department office to determine who your adviser is and when his/her office hours are offered. Come by MZ 210 on the day you are going to see your adviser to pick up your file and advisement form. The office does not make appointments and office hours are walk-in, based on a first-come, first-serve basis. Freshmen must make an appointment to meet with an adviser at the Student Resource Center/EOP by calling 818/677-2024. All other students meet with their faculty adviser during their walk-in office hours.
READING ROOM - The Reading Room has been reopened.
CONFERENCE - The Institute on Political Journalism presents: “Post Election Reflections: Covering the Campaign of 2010" A Conference for College Journalists. This conference will feature reporters fresh off the campaign trail, seasoned political pundits and observers, along with veterans of the Washington Press Corps. Some of the topics that will be discussed at the conference will be, the campaign overview, on the road with the candidates, the new political landscape, campaigns on campus and campaign press operations. This conference will take place on Nov. 5 and 6 in Washington, D.C. For further details on the conference and to complete registration form, please visit www.DCinternships.org/IPJconf.
WPE - Undergraduate students are encouraged to take the Writing Proficiency Examination (WPE) as early as possible after (a) above has been met, but must take the WPE no later than the semester in which 75 units are completed. Students who have not taken the WPE by the completion of 75 units may delay their graduation. The next test date is scheduled for Saturday, October 16.
