Welcome New and Returning Journalism Students
Department Office Hours - The Department's office hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Wednesday 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Reading Room - For journalism students who need to access computers or need a quiet place to study, the Journalism Department has a computer lab in the Michael Emery Reading Room, MZ 208. Please keep in mind that the Department does not provide paper and you must bring your own if you plan to print. No food, drinks, or using MySpace/Facebook in the Reading Room!

Email - Check your @my.csun.edu e-mail regularly or forward your university e-mail to an account like hotmail. Remember that the @my.csun.edu is the official Cal State Northridge communication method. It is the student's responsibility to monitor his/her University e-mail. Not checking e-mail is not a good reason for missing deadlines.
Commencement Ceremony - The commencement ceremony for the Mike Curb College of Arts, Media and Communication will take place on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 8 a.m. on the Oviatt Library Lawn.
MAP Required to Apply for Graduation - As of December 1, 2010, Admissions Records requires that all students applying for graduation must submit a “My Academic Planner” along with their Department Grad Check and Bachelor’s Degree and Diploma. For information about MAP log on to http://www.csun.edu/anr/degreeprogress/map.html.
Graduation Deadlines - To apply for Fall 2011 graduation, applications must be submitted by March 4, 2011. For Spring 2012 or Summer 2012 graduation, students must apply before July 8, 2011.
Internship Paperwork - Please note that all students who have been approved for an internship, must submit their paperwork to the Department office, MZ 210 no later than the third week of classes.
LASH - Effective Spring 2011 the following courses will not count toward credit for the degree: GWS 410 Sex, Lies & Media (3); RS 204 Religion, Logic and Media (3); AAS 230 Asian Americans and the Media (3).  Upon review, these courses were found to be too similar to journalism courses and therefore cannot be taken toward LASH credit and will not count toward the 120 units needed for the degree.
