GRE Workshop - A workshop on the changes of the GRE will take place on Saturday February 26  in Chaparral Hall 5126 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. The workshop will be facilitated by the Princeton Review.

Study Abroad - New York University is offering a Journalism and Communication abroad program for fall 2011. Students will have the opportunity to study courses such as Cultural Contexts and African Media, Methods and Practice: Constructing Narratives, Reporting Armed Conflict, Reporting in Buenos Aires and Travel Writing. Students are encourage to apply early to increase chances of receiving a study abroad scholarship. For more details visit NYU Abroad.

Author Euna Lee to visit CSUN - Euna Lee, an Korean-American journalist and author of The World is Bigger Now will be coming to CSUN to talk about her ordeal in North Korean captivity that changed her life forever. Lee will also be signing copies of her book. The session will take place March 2 at 4 p.m. in the Valley Performance Arts Center Lecture Hall 181. Admission will be free. Commencement Ceremony - The commencement ceremony for the Mike Curb College of Arts, Media and Communication will take place on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 8 a.m. on the Oviatt Library Lawn.

MAP Required to Apply for Graduation - As of December 1, 2010, Admissions & Records requires that all students applying for graduation must submit a “My Academic Planner” along with their Department Grad Check and Bachelor’s Degree and Diploma. For information about MAP log on to

Graduation Deadlines - To apply for Fall 2011 graduation, applications must be submitted by March 4, 2011. For Spring 2012 or Summer 2012 graduation, students must apply before July 8, 2011. 

LASH - Effective Spring 2011 the following courses will not count toward credit for the degree: GWS 410 Sex, Lies & Media (3); RS 204 Religion, Logic and Media (3); AAS 230 Asian Americans and the Media (3).  Upon review, these courses were found to be too similar to journalism courses and therefore cannot be taken toward LASH credit and will not count toward the 120 units needed for the degree. 

Journalism Book Club:  The World is Bigger Now , is a book about a team of journalists captured in North Korea and detained for nearly five months before an improbable rescue by former President Bill Clinton. The next session will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 24 in MZ 201. The book club is open to all journalism majors and minors.
