Promotions Producer/Editor - KQCA My58 and KCRA 3 in Sacramento have an immediate opening for a highly creative Promotions Producer/Editor who will promote entertainment programming. The right candidate must be a creative thinker with a strong eye for layout and design. Experience in producing comedy promotional campaigns is a huge plus. The producer will edit compelling on-air promos from start to finish that generate viewer interest to increase ratings. In addition, the producer will update and enhance My58 promos and graphics and work on promotion campaigns. This is a full-time position. Candidates must have a great attitude and be a team player. Two to five years of experience in producing and editing on-air promos is necessary, including knowledge in Non-Linear Editing, After Effects, and Photoshop. Candidates must be able to work with a flexible schedule including overtime and weekends. Teaching Abroad - The Association of School Teachers (AST) works hand in hand with several Korean government agencies by assisting with recruiting teachers from the United States. Teaching positions are available for public schools in Busan Metropolitan city in South Korea beginning in the fall semester and continuing through July, 2013. Selected teachers will assist and teach native Korean teachers and students conversational English. American teachers not only teach English speaking classes but also their own subjects such as math, P.E., music, science, or the other subjects through the usage of English. Teachers will be required to work eight hours per day, five days a week, excluding Korean holidays. This position requires a commitment of one full year. Applicants must be native English speakers and must meet one of the following qualifications: a bachelor’s degree in English, education or communications, a master’s degree in any field, TESOL (+100 hours), or have a teaching certificate. Applicants do not need to speak Korean because local Korean teachers are readily available for translation needs. American teachers will be contracted with each of the public schools, and salaries will be paid by the schools through Korean currency ‘won’ (KRW). The yearly salary is KRW 34,150,000, or approximately $30,491 USD per year depending on experience. Airfare, housing, and medical insurance are provided. Assistant Canvass Directors- Grassroots Campaigns is looking to interview top students to be activists for change in the upcoming election. Job responsibilities include recruitment within local communities, staff management, canvassing, and budget management. Strong communication and motivational skills are required. Candidates must be able to work within a team, have proven leadership ability, and show a desire for political change. Strong self direction and the ability to take initiative are also necessary qualifications. Previous field or canvassing experience is a plus. Newly hired directors will typically spend three weeks doing field training while working alongside experienced directors. Directors will also attend week-long national classroom training. Positions last through the 2012 Presidential Election. Job hours can be between 80 and 100 hours per week including weekend work. The positions pay $24,000 per year and include paid training, vacation and sick days. Health care options and student loans assistance is available.
