Sports Spectacular Broadcasting Contest – Sports Spectacular is a non-profit event based in Los Angeles, and it is a great opportunity for sports fans to interview professional athletes on the Red Carpet. This year, David Beckham and the NY Giants will be honored at the event. Those interested must create a video explaining why they should be the next correspondent or provide hypothetical questions they would ask. The submissions will be judged through Facebook. Every “like” for a submission will count as one vote. The top ten videos will be judged by Sports Spectacular hosts. The winner will be able to interview celebrities on the red carpet, and they will receive two tickets to Sports Spectacular on May 20, 2012. In addition, a one-night stay at the Century Plaza Hotel will be awarded. Submissions are due on May 7, 2012. Entries can be submitted at https://www.facebook.com/SportsSpectacular/app_216935751741463. For more information, please contact Chelsea Martell at (310) 858-9217 or visit www.sportsspectacular.com.
Steps to apply for graduation:
- Meet with your adviser to do a departmental “Graduation Check.” DO NOT print out a copy of the Application for Bachelor’s Degree as the department will supply you with one. Faculty advisers DO NOT sign off on the form, the Department Chair is the only authorized signee.
- Submit Grad Check to the Journalism department for processing which takes about two weeks.
- When you return you will need to bring a copy of your My Academic Planner (MAP). To access the MAP go to the web portal and click on “View My Academic Planner.” Use MAP to plan your remaining coursework. Check out the tutorial on My Academic Planner at http://www.csun.edu/anr/soc/guides/map.html if you are not already familiar with this excellent planning tool.
- Submit your “Bachelor’s Degree and Diploma Application” form, Grad Check and a copy of your MAP to Admissions and Records with the $47 fee [plus the $10 late fee if applicable] at the Student Services Center in Bayramian Hall.
Application filing dates are posted at http://www.csun.edu/anr/grad/index.html.
Submitting your application during the filing period will insure you receive your official graduation evaluation before registration for your final semester and will help you avoid the $10 late fee. Applying after the deadline might delay receipt of your grad evaluation and compromise your graduating senior priority registration appointment time. Commencement participation could also be affected if your application is submitted after the published filing period.
