Assistant Canvass Directors- Grassroots Campaigns is looking to interview top students to be activists for change in the upcoming election. Job responsibilities include recruitment within local communities, staff management, canvassing and budget management. Strong communication and motivational skills are required. Candidates must be able to work within a team, have proven leadership ability and show a desire for political change. Strong self-direction and the ability to take initiative are also necessary qualifications. Previous field or canvassing experience is a plus. Newly hired directors will typically spend three weeks doing field training while working alongside experienced directors. Directors will also attend week-long national classroom training. Positions last through the 2012 Presidential Election. Job hours can be between 80 and 100 hours per week including weekend work. The positions pay $24,000 per year and include paid training, vacation and sick days. Health care options and student loans assistance is available.
