Public Relations - The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Communications and Media Relations internship program is open to undergraduate and graduate students attending an accredited academic institution. LAUSD offers year-round, non-paid 12-week internships in the Media Relations and Internal Communications divisions. Students majoring in communications, public/media relations, journalism or related fields (including Social Media Marketing courses) will gain valuable experience and will also receive college credit. LAUSD Communications Department interns work collaboratively with all members of the team. Interns will work on numerous departmental projects varying in scope and timeline, including communication with journalists, tracking and monitoring media coverage, the value of social media as a 21st century tool for communicating the District message and achievements, and research projects. Internships are available for fall, winter, spring and summer semesters. Intern responsibilities include handling media requests, tracking LAUD’s media coverage, assisting with media archives, distributing material to media outlets, and researching prospects for media outreach. Students must currently be attending a college or university. The position is open to sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students. Interns must have a declared major in communications, English, public/media relations, journalism, or a related field (social media marketing courses, etc.) with a grade point average of 3.0. Interns must have strong communication or organization skills, be media savvy, and have experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Public Relations / Marketing - The West Hollywood Convention & Visitors Bureau is looking for a responsible individual interested in the tourism industry with excellent English language skills to fill the intern position of Marketing Associate. We are looking for a commitment of three to six months. The individual will work closely with managers in all departments and have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the organization including General Administration, Sales, Marketing, Public Relations and Special Events. Interns will manage online and other marketing strategies by updating listings, promotions, links, news, and events. In addition, interns will reach out to local businesses and provide administrative and marketing support for Bureau offices. Qualifications include one year of college studies related to communications, marketing and interactive media and the completion of procedures and qualifications required by a university.
