Internship Opportunities October 22 - October 26

Magazine – The 2013 Magazine Internship Program, sponsored by the American Society of Magazine has internships available in Washington and New York for those seeking a career in magazine journalism. Interns will report, edit, fact-check and copy-edit for print and online publications, while occasionally interviewing celebrities, attending press conferences, and working the red carpet. The program begins with orientation on May 29 and goes through August 2, 2013. Only 10 percent of applicants are accepted. The application must include: a completed application form from magazine.org/asmeinternship, a one-page cover letter, a letter of recommendation from an educator, a letter of recommendation from an intern supervisor or employer, a resume, no more than 10 clips from a college newspaper or magazine, and a processing fee of $25. Sports - The Sports Journalism Institute and Asian American Journalists Association offer the Sports Journalism Institute Internship. Get specialized sports journalism training, a paid sports news internship, a scholarship and industry contacts through the 2013 Sports Journalism Institute. The 2013 program starts with an intensive week of instruction led by journalism professionals from May 31 to June 8 at the University of Missouri at Columbia. That's followed by an eight-week paid internship at a print, digital or electronic media outlet. Upon completion of the program, college students receive a $500 scholarship. College sophomores and juniors with editing and online skills are encouraged to apply. Applicants do not need to be AAJA members, but must join - with a student rate available - if selected.
