Student Intern/Assistant – The Marketing and Communications Department of University Advancement is seeking a student intern for the spring 2013 semester. The student will join a team responsible for promoting the mission, vision, reputation and brand of the university through media, publications and Web/electronic communications. The student intern/assistant will provide editorial support for a range of print and online publications, including Community@CSUN, a monthly publication distributed to CSUN neighbors and CSUN Today, our dynamic newsroom on the web, targeted to a broad audience of students, parents, alumni and friends of the university. The student must have strong communication and writing skills, be a self-starter, well organized and comfortable with multitasking. The student will be responsible for an assortment of duties, including researching, collecting and writing news items for the FYI column and calendar, and answering telephones and other office tasks for the department. The student will be given the opportunity to write briefs and short stories. The internship typically requires a commitment of between 15-20 hours per week. We employ paid and unpaid interns. Producer – KCRA in Sacramento is searching for a full time news producer. Responsibilities include input on daily news coverage, line producing, writing and working closely with the technical and marketing teams. The company is looking for a creative person who understands how to put a newscast together based on the needs and expectations of our viewers. They must communicate clearly, work well with others and be effective under the pressures of a live television newscast. In addition, candidates must be web savvy and will be responsible for producing content for KCRA.com. Applicants should have experience covering breaking news, covering hard news, and working under tight deadlines. Applicants should also be comfortable and able to work with digital platforms.
