Sports - “The Signal” in Valencia is seeking interns for the sports department who will learn and help in multiple capacities. Interns will assist on the print side of the publication by taking scores and information, in hopes that they can eventually write stories. “The Signal” is also looking for interns to help with taking video and editing. This is the perfect training ground for students who want to learn the ins and outs of a multimedia company and hopefully create some clips. The internship is unpaid. Public Relations / Communications - The Saban Free Clinic has an opening for an internship under the marketing and communications department from now through May to support the communications promotional efforts on event fundraisers and community outreach. The intern will be responsible for interviewing staff and patients for an upcoming video and potential newsletter stories, preparing daily news clips and blog clips on health-related issues, assisting with preparation of press releases, presentations, and message materials, answering and facilitating press and patient story calls, assisting with social and print media-related tracking, and attending community health fairs to distribute information on the clinic. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, organized, bilingual in English and Spanish and efficient with strong computer and people skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is a must. General office experience is helpful. The intern should have a strong interest in journalism, media and press relations, political advocacy, and community health care clinics. Public Relations – The Van Nuys Airport is looking for unpaid interns to work for the public and community relations office. Hours are flexible and are generally 20 hours per week. There are opportunities to write press releases, work street fairs, deal directly with vendors, photograph events and much more. There is also the usual office filing and typing.
