Journalism - Based in Los Angeles, CA – "Telescope" is a bimonthly digital magazine for young adults. The first issue will launch September 30, 2013 at Telescopemag.com. Telescope uses a multimedia format to tell the stories of real-life heroes - whether it is a person involved in a nonprofit doing life-changing work, an adventurer who just completed an amazing feat or an athlete who has broken a world record. Duties and qualifications include: Junior or Senior currently enrolled in a university or college and preferably enrolled in an internship course receiving school credit. Must demonstrate strong interest in journalistic or creative writing; be creative, innovative, and able to collaborate. An interest in adventure, pop culture and global nonprofit work is a plus! Requires at least ten hours of work per week (may work independently on assignments) and at least one afternoon per week at the company’s offices in Santa Monica starting September 11 thru December 6. Interns will report directly to a Manager on a weekly basis and will be given research, writing and/or multi-media assignments. Through this internship, students will discover and reach out to interesting people and potential interviewees, brainstorm interview questions, write first drafts of copy for articles and edit under the direction of the seasoned journalist.
