Graduation Checks – The deadline to apply for Fall 2014 is March 7, 2014. The deadline to apply for Spring 2015 is July 11, 2014. Students must meet with faculty advisor to complete a graduation check. Students are strongly encouraged to apply one year in advance.

Fall 2014 Advisement - All journalism students who plan to attend CSUN during the Fall 2014 semester must see their advisers for academic counseling during the advisement period which will begin on Monday, March 17, 2014. Students will not be cleared for registration until the department has the counseling form on file. Advisers' office hours are available on the table outside the Journalism Department office. The Journalism Department does not make appointments, so plan to see your adviser during his or her office hours. Pick up you advisement form and file in the department office (MZ 210) before seeing your adviser. Once advisement has been completed, both the advisement form and file must be returned to the office. If needed, students should also obtain the instructors' signatures for any restricted classes. 
Sacramento Press Club - The Sacramento Press Club is proud to announce that they are awarding $34,000 in scholarships to students who are preparing for a career in journalism or a closely related field. The seven scholarships range in value from $4,000 to $8,000.  Community college students who are transferring to four year colleges will get special consideration for their newest scholarship, the $4,000 Nereida Skelton Journalism Scholarship. Their six other scholarships are offered to college juniors, seniors or graduate students who are focusing on journalism. Applications must be postmarked no later than March 31st. Jim Murray Memorial Foundation - The Jim Murray Memorial Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was established in 1999 to perpetuate Pulitzer Prize-winning sports columnist Jim Murray’s great legacy, and his love for and dedication to his extraordinary career in journalism. Fourteen years and 88 Murray Scholars later, the Murray Scholar family continues to strengthen and grow through the Jim Murray Memorial Foundation’s continued efforts to award scholarships to outstanding journalism students while perpetuating Jim Murray’s legacy. The Murray Scholar Scholarship Program offers five journalism scholarships in the amount of $5,000 through a nationwide essay competition, and first and foremost, to those students pursuing a career in sports writing. An applicant must have achieved academic standing sufficiently advanced to assure completion of his/her second and/or third year of undergraduate study, achieving junior or senior status for the Fall 2014 semester who will graduate in Spring of 2015 or 2016 and not mid-year.
