Hello Journalism students, we hope you are all having a great Monday. We have some wonderful news for all of you, if you have not heard, on Feb. 20 the Sundial won 2 first-place California College Media Association awards; best newspaper and best infographic, both in the 2016 weekly division. We would like to congratulate the Sundial for their amazing work!

Events

"Race & Opportunity in America"

Soledad O'Brien, award-winning journalist, television news anchor, producer and documentarian, is coming to the Valley Performing Arts Center to present her compelling talk on "Race and Opportunity in America."

Date: Tuesday, March 8, 
Time: 5 p.m.- 6:30 p.m. 
Location: Great Hall, Valley Performing Arts Center


Students need to stop by the A.S. Ticket Office ahead of time to redeem their free ticket.

Erlandson International Symposium

Joshua Dysart will be speaking as the Erlandson International News speaker this year.

When: Wednesday, March 9
Where: Manzanita Hall room 361
Time: 4 p.m.

Dysart teamed up with the World Food Program to create a graphic novel about Iraq. The comic, "Living Level 3," is based on his travels to Kurdistan and has been serialized in the Huffington Post website:  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/joshua-dysart/living-level-3-graphic-novel_b_9012914.html. Joshua has previously produced a graphic novel set in Uganda.
