Executive Producer Position 
Full- time 

Spectrum News currently seeks an Executive Producer for their In focus public affairs program. This position is responsible for supervising and producing four weekly shows, including editorial content, look and accuracy of stories under the direction of the News Director. 

SCHEDULE 
Varies according to shift ( Requires day, night, weekend, and on-call availability, especially during inclement weather. May work some holidays)


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Supervises on-air product, editorial content, graphic look and continuity.
  • Generates daily and future story and coverage ideas. 
  • Select stories and manage editorial product in conjunction with News Anchors
  • Oversees line-up of programs and makes changes as necessary.
  • Edits , critiques and approves scripts. 
  • Write scripts, provides background for interviews and coordinates changes in coverage. 
  • Assigns editing and graphics responsibilities to Spectrum News staff.
  • Produces news specials and organizes and delegates assignments. 
  • Manages editorial workbook scheduling, performance reviews and approves request for time off and approves time sheets. 
  • Provides feedback to direct reports , including regular critiques.
  • Delivers annual performance evaluations to direct deposit reports. 
  • Assist in managing budgetary responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS 
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 
  • The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.)  Journalism or related field preferred. 
  • 4-6 years of leadership and content management preferred. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with a demonstrated ability for effective teamwork and attention to detail. 
  • Must be detail oriented and organized, be able to multitask and meet deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Must work well under pressure and have excellent problem solving skills 
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of current events, societal trends and general news topic of interest. 
  • General understanding and appreciation for the tenets of journalism and television news gathering.
