Fall Broadcast Internship

SCVTV, Santa Clarita


The SCVTV Media Center is the central hub for local businesses, schools and local organizations to connect with their target audience. This unpaid internship provides undergraduate students with hands on experience with news reporting and TV production. They are looking for interns with a positive attitude and willing to work 12 to 16 hours per week.

Duties:
The responsibilities of interns at SCVTV include, but are not limited to:
Positing government, nonprofit, local press releases and video content to the website

Assisting production staff with TV shows and productions

Assisting News staff with writing scripts, finding content and producing the daily newscast, as well as assisting with coverage of local events

Monitoring social media for news stories and content

Learn to create news packages and TV show segments

Qualifications:
Must have some experience in TV production or journalism

Preferred coursework in English, Broadcast Journalism, TV, Film, Radio

Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university internship program

Excellent communication skills, positive attitude, strong work ethic

Flexible schedule preferred

Skills Preferred:
Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud products

Experience with Wordpress

Experience in videography, lighting, nonlinear video editing

Experience in news writing for broadcast and online/ print

Excellent news judgement and ethics

Mentor Program Opportunity February 20-February 24

NPR Next Generation Radio Annenberg School at USC  Students at Cal State schools in greater Los Angeles and the University of Southern California, this one's for you. NPR’s Next Generation Radio is now accepting applications for our non-narrated audio and digital media storytelling project at the Annenberg School at USC March 13-17. Apply by midnight PST Wednesday February 23 https://nextgenradio.wufoo.com/forms/m1hrmmou0vnz2ee/ This program seeks to increase diversity in public media through hands-on training and mentorship. Students get to spend a week with their own professional mentor, working on NPR style audio stories, video, social media and web content. There is no cost to apply or be admitted into the program. (Students pay travel and food expenses though).
