Scholarship Program

RADIO & TELEVISION NEWS ASSOCIATION
DEADINE: NOV. 10

The scholarship is offering a minimum of $1,000 to students whose career objective is broadcast journalism and currently is studying at sophomore level or above at an accredited Southern California college or university.

One scholarship is named in honor of the late Jim Zaillian, who served as KNX news director for ten years. Zaillian was an active member of RTNA and had a special interest in the education of broadcast journalism students. Another scholarship is named in honor of Hal Fishman, legendary anchor at KTLA. Winners will receive their scholarship awards at the Golden Mike Awards Banquet on January 27, 2018.

The RTNA is a great program to join as it supports and promotes broadcast journalists in their efforts to cover the news and the community. Among its many activities, which include organizing and presenting the annual Golden Mike Awards, the RTNA is instrumental in fighting for Freedom of Information and bringing cameras into courtrooms.

Interested applicants can apply by visiting the website and fill out an online application or you can contact Ernie Castelo at (949) 278-8349 or scholarship@rtna.org.
