RTNA DEADLINE EXTENDED TO APPLY FOR 2020: January 8th, 2020 RTNA sponsors a broadcast journalism scholarship award in honor of the late Jim Zaillian, KNX-AM News Director for ten years. Jim was an active member of RTNA who had a special interest in the education of broadcast journalism students. RTNA sponsors another broadcast journalism scholarship award in honor of the late Jerry Dunphy, an icon of Los Angeles broadcast news for more than four decades. RTNA sponsors a third broadcast journalism scholarship award in honor of the late Hal Fishman, who was the longest-running news anchor in television history. ProPublica Deadline: Oct 30, 2019 ProPublica has opened a new round of applications for its Local Reporting Network , with a focus on local accountability projects. ProPublica will pay the salary, plus a benefits allowance, for reporters at six partner news organizations who will each spend one year tackling an investigative project in their communities. Reporters will collaborate with a ProPublica senior editor, and they can receive assistance with data analysis, research, design, audience development and engagement. Applications for these new slots are due Oct. 30. Here are the details for those interested in applying . The new group of reporters will begin work on Jan. 2. If your organization is selected, the reporter will continue to work in your newsroom but will receive extensive guidance and support from ProPublica.
