LA Parent Magazine  Summer and Fall 2017 Intern. 5855 Topanga Canyon Blvd. S uite 150 Woodland Hills, CA 91367 LA Parent is seeking bright and motivated journalism students to intern with their regional parenting magazine. No parenting experience is necessary, but writing/editing experience is required. LA Parent has a small staff, so this is an excellent opportunity to dive in and hone your skills. Tasks include: Help keep Facebook and Twitter feeds fed Assist with editorial research Write brief articles for website and Community News and School News section of the magazine, Contribute content for weekly email newsletter, and  Participate in editorial planning. Intern will work closely with the editor, receive direct feedback about your writing and reporting, and finish the internship with published clips. NPR Next Generation Radio Annenberg School at USC  Students at Cal State schools in greater Los Angeles and the University of Southern California, this one's for you. NPR’s Next Generation Radio is now accepting applications for our non-narrated audio and digital media storytelling project at the Annenberg School at USC March 13-17. Students get to spend a week with their own professional mentor, working on NPR style audio stories, video, social media and web content. There is no cost to apply or be admitted into the program. Sacramento Press Club Scholarship Opportunity  Deadline: midnight PST on March 31st The Sacramento Press Club  is proud to announce that in 2017 they will award $34,000 in seven scholarships to students who are preparing for a career in journalism or a closely related field. Students must either be from the Sacramento region, attending a college in the Sacramento region or have a demonstrated portfolio of work that shows coverage of Sacramento-area issues.  The seven scholarships range in value from $4,000 to $8,000. Community college students who are transferring to four-year colleges will get special consideration for the $4,000 Nereida Skelton Journalism Scholarship. Our six other scholarships are offered to college juniors, seniors or graduate students who are focusing on journalism.
