NBC Universal Digital Journalism Internship, Fall 2018

This internship opportunity is for driven students to take their skill set to the next level. This is a rigorous program designed exclusively for students who already have a mastery of reporting, writing and AP style, and are ready to learn more. This is an opportunity to transition from college student to real-life journalist via the day-to-day challenges of the No. 2 media market in the country. By the end of the internship, interns will leave with a well-rounded newsroom education and a portfolio.

Some responsibilities could include: • Working with veteran digital journalists to write one to two stories a day, find sources, conduct interviews, compile research, build photo galleries, edit video and assist with social media and editorial planning • News gathering responsibilities that include research, story development, writing and assignment desk news monitoring/gathering • Research information to assist with investigations and source subjects for possible story development or interviews • Organizing and editing videos, research for field crews, assisting in answering phones, gathering elements from users via social media, writing and editing news stories for broadcast, web and social media. • Previous work experience in an office environment

Qualifications/Requirements
• In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution and be able to provide documentation to confirm your degree progress
• Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits)
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. without a visa or sponsorship
• Must be able to work on-site in Universal City, CA
• A passion for news and the Internet is a must
• Strong news writing skills for the Web are required Desired Characteristics
• Experience working with your campus newspaper preferred
• Previous internship experience
• Previous work experience in an office environment
